This song is themed around the affects of habitual venial sins. Sins such as lust, unforgiveness, closemindedness and other behaviour sins can build up and create a wall of depression. Continually sinning, through even venial sins, can create torture within the mind and soul. I experience this just as anyone does thoughout life. My unwillingness to forgive or my lust towards women lead me to sulk into myself. It is hard to get out of such a slum and the deep emotion that stems from it is frightening just as hell. "Dug a Dot" accomplishes the goal to signify the affects of habitual sins by being a little tricky or unexpected. It is also innocent as if one is surrounded by beautiful flowers but is instead surrounded and shredded by many small thorns. The ideas behind this song is almost unexplainable. It is an amazing experience to behold for the two minutes it lasts. |
