Story Behind the Music
As the title suggests, this song is about a blank, or empty, score of music. I am specifically referring to a brand new file being created in the program Noteworthy Composer. The only perfection is a page with nothing on it. Once I write music onto a score, I can only make it longer. Silence is, in itself, a perfect piece of music. It is the music of eternity.
How exactly would I capture this feeling of making a brand new, and empty, music file? Well, I would not just save an empty file and call it music, I would have to create a short and very thoughtful piece that reflected the emotion I had inside of me. Not everyone experiences the same emotion when they create a new piece of music out of nothing, thus I must show the world what it feels like to me.
This piece has a very short list of instruments and, if performed, is to be played as such. I wanted the sound to be slightly vacant but very harsh to explain the abruptness of this feeling. The vibraphone, then, opens the song to show my suprise of recieving the emotion in this circumstance. Then, when I realize what I am feeling, the rest of the instruments join. This piece, with the exception of the vibraphone and piano, is very free flowing. It also ends in a cute and predictable manner since all good things must come to an end. The end is controlled by me when I decide to dictate the first note in a piece of music.
Explaining this emotion wasn't easy, but it didn't take very long. It ended up being a short yet very rewarding piece of music.
