Story Behind the Music
I originally named this song simply "The Car" but students and teacher alike told me that it sounded very Japanese. Thus, reluctantly, I renamed it "The Japanese Car" to please the masses. It wasn't too important to me, though. The name of a song doesn't change the song, it only changes the meaning behind the song. And "The Japanese Car" fits the history of it. I wasn't too proud of the song and I'm not too proud of the song today. This song shows just how held back I was musically by using Digital Performer.
The best feauture of the song is the flunctuations that I used to change inbetween parts of the song. Much of the song swells or quietly softens into the distance. This is perpetuated through the entrance and ending use of the timpani.
Another aspect of this song that I really enjoy is the transitions between sections A, B and A. I was able to use some little tricks to allow the song to sound a little bit more "real" rather than MIDI.
I enjoy this song, though, it definitely belongs upon this album.
